Just as its predecessor did, Divinity: Original Sin 2 will get an updated and enhanced edition later this year. The new Definitive Edition launches this summer on consoles, but rest assured that we PC players will also have access to all the new fixes and additions.

Larian have confirmed that Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition will launch in August for PC players, and the update will automatically be added to the libraries of players who already own the existing release. That goes for both Steam and GOG versions of the game.

The exact contents of the Definitive Edition are still a mystery, though the original Divinity: Original Sin – Enhanced Edition featured improvements in the quadruple digits, including a revised story, fresh content, controller support, and new features in pretty much every game system. Of course, the excellent sequel has much less room to improve over it’s original release (it’s one of the best games of 2017 after all), though we’re sure Larian can sneak a few surprises in.

Some of those changes might be unveiled courtesy of console players soon enough, since the Definitive Edition is about to go into testing via the Xbox Game Preview program, complete with an NPC to collect player feedback in-game. The early launch will only cover the first few hours of the game (or the first act for those who pre-order), but it may give us an idea of what to expect from the final update.
