Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked gets carried out of Early Access on a bit of flotsam

Don't Starve Shipwrecked

If you’re sick of all the April Fools lies, here’s some real news for you – Don’t Starve’s water-based Shipwrecked expansion has sailed free from Early Access.

Klei are one of my favourite developers, but there’s more small studio goodness in our list of PC’s best indie games.

Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked has only been in Early Access since December, but Klei already feel confident enough to declare it complete. Our Fraser certainly had an interesting time with it way back when.

To celebrate this milestone, Klei have put a message (trailer) in a bottle (your computer) and released it to sea (the internet). You can watch that below:

You can’t give Klei all the credit for Shipwrecked, however, as it was built in collaboration with Super Time Force developer Capybara Games – a partnership we hopefully see more of if it’s going to produce stuff like this.

If you didn’t know, Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked strands you in a tropical archipelago where you have to learn to survive all over again, by land and by sea, in a new environment filled with new biomes, seasons, and creatures.

You might feel soothed by the lapping of the waves, but this tropical landscape has as many teeth as the fields and woodland of the main game. Don’t Starve and all its DLC is currently enjoying a nice 45% discount on Steam, if you’re interested.
