Doom sneak peek for QuakeCon 2014 attendees only, says Bethesda

Doom QuakeCon 2014

With an E3 teaser trailer and its planned presence at the next QuakeCon, the existence of Doom is not really a secret. But Bethesda and id apparently want to maintain a degree of mystique.

QuakeCon 2014 attendees will get their own special sneak peek at the new Doom at the event, and everyone else will just have to wait their turn.

“This an exclusive thing we are doing for attendees as part of our Annual QuakeCon Welcome presentation,” Bethesda said. “We’ll have plenty more to show everyone at a later date, but we didn’t want another QuakeCon to go by without doing something special for the amazing QC community and id supporters that have been with us for more than 20 years.”

The publisher has clarified that this means there will be no streams of the game in action, and the event will be the only place where people can see this sneak peek. So unless somebody in the audience takes a sneaky recording (which would undoubtedly be taken down within an hour), everyone not in attendance will simply have to guess at what’s going to be shown.

When Doom turned 20 late last year, the PCGN collective gathered to share memories of the classic FPS. Take a look and get all nostalgic and misty-eyed.

QuakeCon is taking place this month, between the 17th and 20th in Dallas.

Cheers, Polygon.
