GOMTV to start streaming Dota 2

Dota 2

Mega-normous South Korean streaming service GOMTV will begin weekly Dota 2 broadcasts from April 3rd at 12pm GMT.

Recent murmuring surrounding GOMTV’s new studio – pictured – have seen Dota 2 crop up in connection with the online TV service. Now an unambiguous message broadcast live by the provider, picked up by Redditors, appears to confirm the speculation.

GOMTV – so-named for the Gretech Online Movie Player the service is intrinsically linked to – have a remit which extends from National Geographic documentaries to dramas, but have been involved in eSports for the past half-decade, spanning back to StarCraft: Brood War.

Nowadays, GOMTV hosts top StarCraft league GSL, home to many of the best players in the world. In 2010, parent company Gretech Corp. signed an exclusive three-year partnership agreement with Blizzard to broadcast eSports in Korea.

In short: this deal is a big one for Dota 2 and its steady growth as an eSport. Will you be tuning in?
