Dying Light: The Following trailer shows how to build undead-decimating dune buggies

Dying Light: The Following dune buggy trailer

While it seems The Following – the first expansion to land on zombie survivor Dying Light’s shores – will pare back the base game’s parkour, it will in turn introduce customisable dune buggies that can be used as weapons. Today, developers Techland released a trailer that shows us how.

At times I feel sorry for all the hate levied at zombies. Then again, I do love our best zombie games on PC.

In a deliberately on-the-nose slant on TV show Pimp My Ride, the trailer – named “Weaponize Your Ride ” – shows players how to kit out buggies in times of need – aka, a zombie apocalypse – with a glance at some of the menus you’ll use to do up your dune. There’s no sign of rapper-turned-presenter Xzibit in there, mind you, but I’m sure that’s a good thing.

“Your buggy is going to be crucial to surviving out in the open, so we want to create an emotional connection between players and their ride,” explains producer Tymon Smektała. “On top of the lethal weapons and upgrades you’ll be able to add, there are a lot of cool paint jobs, a number of unmistakable bobble heads and little charms to put inside, so you can really make the buggy your own.”

Here’s a look at the buggy building in practice:

Techland list suspension, engines, brakes, ramming bars and UV headlights as just some of the trappings you can tack onto your tailor-made monsters. But check out that flamethrower. Now we’re talking.

Dying Light: The Following is due for release on February 9.
