Ten years to the day after it launched, Dying Light has received a huge visual upgrade in the form of its Retouched Update. If you were looking for an excuse to play this parkour zombie game ahead of Dying Light: The Beast dropping, then this is it. Even better, if you're a newcomer to Harran, the game is on sale for a ridiculous $4.
We're huge fans of the Dying Light series, both the original and Dying Light 2: Stay Human. But we could only take one of these zombie games into our shambler-proof fortress, it'd be the original. So we're over the moon that the game's Retouched Update has dropped, giving it a graphical overhaul.

The update, which is absolutely free, includes a host of visual and audio tweaks, including higher textures, better skyboxes and clouds, ultra-quality shadows and so on. Granted, you might be not be able to appreciate these when you're fleeing a nocturnal super-zombie, but you should notice the difference when you're chilling around Harran.
Why update the game now? Aside from being a celebration of the game's anniversary, it's a handy way of reacquainting players with original protagonist Kyle Crane. His post-Dying Light fate was uncertain, but he's back in the third game, Dying Light: The Beast, arriving this Friday August 22, 2025.
Have you missed out on Dying Light? Right now it's a massive 80% off on Steam, making it $3.99 / £3.99. Dying Light 2 is also down to $19.79 / £16.49, just what you need to take advantage of this terrifying Balatro skin.
