Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless push series sales over 2 million units

People really like Amplitude Studios' Endless games - Endless Space, Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless. They must do, as the series has collectively sold over 2 million units since 2012. You could say people like it a lot. You could even say their love for it is endless. But I won't. Hang on.

Endless Legend is good. So good, in fact, that it made our list of the 15 best strategy games on PC.

This sales news comes from Amplitude Studios' official Twitter account:

Obsessed with strategy games, Amplitude Studios ask for community feedback in the development on their games under the GAMES2GETHER platform. Here they quiz the community to vote and discuss features and mechanics in their games as they're developed. No doubt this interaction has played its part in building such a strong audience around the independent studio.

Based in Paris, Amplitude Studios boasts a team of industry veterans with their names in the credits of franchises such as Battlefield, Rayman, XIII, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, R.U.S.E., Call of Juarez and Might & Magic. The studio's next game, Endless Space 2, has the broad release date of 2016.

I'm not surprised the Endless games have done so well! Endless Space and Endless Legend took a dauntingly complex genre (4x strategy) and made it accessible without ever dumbing down. Dungeon of the Endless, on the other hand, managed to create a hard as nails fusion of tower defence and RPG that never ceased to be fun (even if I never did manage to finish it). Add to that the richly imagined, shared narrative that binds the games together and you've got a winning formula!
