Eve Online is an MMO in the truest sense of the word. An entire universe is at your fingertips as the economy, warfare, and politics are all player-driven. Battles can take hours and schemes can be months in the making, as almost every conceivable decision is at your fingertips. Now, that level of freedom and player interaction has been transposed onto the 4X and grand strategy genres with Eve Galaxy Conquest. So if you need a break from the MMO, or just want a new flavor of sci-fi strategy, you can get involved right now.
Developed by CCP Games' Shanghai studio, Eve Galaxy Conquest takes the universe-spanning MMO in an entirely new direction: strategy. You start within the borders of your empire, exploring and expanding across nearby territories. From here you collect resources to enhance fleets, choose ship commanders with powerful abilities, and expand even further. The twist is that there are thousands of other players trying to do the exact same thing.
The tenets of the best grand strategy games are all here, as you need to take resource management, diplomacy, and combat into account. You're not alone though, and can choose to form corporations with other players. You can share your resources, give each other advice, and tackle group missions together. You're going to need all the help you can get, too, as the center of the map hides " a colossal structure guarded by mighty opponents."
You can choose one of four empires: Caldari State, Gallente Federation, Amarr Empire, or Minmatar Republic. Next, you engage in season-based gameplay, assembling fleets ripped right out of Eve Online to bolster your strategies.
Just like in Eve Online, you tackle each scenario as you deem appropriate. Will you charge head-first into combat, or engage in diplomacy and subterfuge to come out on top without a single drop of blood spilled?
Eve Galaxy Conquest is free-to-play and available now. You can find it on iOS here, and the Google Play store right here.
