Dust 514 open beta to hit Eve on January 22nd; CCP will “add deeper integration between the two games” in the future

In a little over two weeks’ time, a potential 52 million will turn on their little black boxes and be met with the option to download Dust 514. Some of them will do so, and whether or not you welcome them into your private chats and corporations, they’re going to change Eve irreparably.

“The launch of the Dust 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and Eve,” said CCP boss Hilmar Veigar Pétursson in this morning’s announcement.

“But this is just the beginning. As we have done with Eve Online, in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the Dust 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.”

Dust 514’s server integration last week was the consummation of a long-gossiped about marriage between the PS3 shooter and its parent game, Eve.

Dust players can now join Eve corps and vice versa, while Dust mercenaries are able to accept contracts from NPC Faction Warfare militias and attack or defend them in corporation battles.

Have you popped back into Eve in the last week to watch the ripples? Or the orbital laser fire?
