Despite a setting that seems to draw on some sensitive issues in the current US social landscape, Ubisoft have insisted that Far Cry 5 has no political message. But a mission in the game appears to be all about one of the most notorious rumours around the biggest political figure in the country.
Here’s everything you need to know about Far Cry 5.
Far Cry 5’s “Patriot Acts” mission has you collecting US President Donald Trump’s (alleged) pee tape. Polygon were the first to note the details, and have provided a video of the mission in question. In-game, the tape is in the possession of a member of cult leader Joseph Seed’s family.
The alleged pee tape was reported an unverified dossier published last year. The New Republic has a pretty concise summary of the contents. “The most salacious allegation, of course, was that Russian authorities had obtained sweet, sweet kompromat on Trump in the form of a video that showed Trump, who stayed in a hotel room in Moscow that the Obamas had previously stayed in, ‘defiling the bed where they had slept by employing a number of prostitutes to perform a golden showers (urination) show in front of him.’ For the record, there is no evidence (thus far) that the pee tape actually exists.”
Your mission-giver in Far Cry 5 is given by a special agent sent to get a job done by the “Big Man.” The owner of the tape, apparently, is a hotel worker who got too curious about the Big Man’s suite stay and has since “fled Kremlandia.”
The agent tells a source “the bed has been wet.” There’s a “yellow brick road” reference. The agent reminds you that “as ironic as this may sound, this is NOT a wet works mission.” It’s all very subtle.
Far Cry 5 is set to release on March 27. Check out the system requirements if you want to ensure you see the tape in the highest fidelity possible. (Note: you only see the actual tape, not what’s on it.)
