Don Corneo sure sounds a lot like Mark Hamill in the latest Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer

Don Corneo's desires are... unconventional

The latest Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer has landed, and while there’s plenty of new stuff to be excited about, we’re here to talk about Don Corneo. The lecherous crime lord makes his modern debut here, and not only does that mean we’re one step closer to seeing Cloud in a dress once again, it seems there’s a familiar voice bringing Corneo to life.

“Don’t be shy, little kitten,” Corneo says in his brief appearance. “Shimmy on over and give daddy some sugar!” Combined with a tiny mustache and a wobbly combover-slash-mohawk, Corneo’s got some real creepy energy – and it very much sounds like he’s voiced by Mark Hamill in the dub. We’ve reached out to Square Enix for confirmation of the casting, but there’s no mistaking that voice.

I’m calling it now: Don Corneo will be the PlayStation-era comeback meme of 2020, just like Mr. X was earlier this year. Aerith even says “Corneo’s got certain… tastes” in the trailer, which is an open door for for approximately a zillion “my desires are unconventional” gags, and I want to see every single one of them.

The trailer shows off plenty of other stuff too – Reno, some summons, and the return of the squat minigame, but you can check that all out for yourself.

If you’re more interested in the Japanese voices, you can see that version of the trailer here.

Square Enix says there “no plans” to bring the FF7 Remake to other platforms following its PlayStation 4 launch on March 3, 2020. Realistically, it will probably eventually hit PC, but you’re certainly going to have to wait for it.
