FFXIV Shadowbringers mounts: how to get all FF14 mounts in the new expansion

Square Enix’s third expansion features huge new worlds. Here’s how to traverse them at speed, and in style

How do you get all FFXIV mounts in Shadowbringers? If you want to ride or fly around the stupendous vistas that make up Final Fantasy XIV Online, you’re going to have to satisfy a number of different requirements. Even though there’s a dizzying array of activities to tackle in this, one of the best MMOs on PC, standing out among the crowd with a cool FFXIV mount is certainly worth your time.

Moreover, it will even help you save time, in the long run. The new areas such as Il Mheg, Eulmore, and Lakeland are huge, so having a ride to speed up the process of getting around will help you get to the action much more efficiently. You can always fast travel using the network of Aetheryte crystals dotted across the world, but that costs valuable Gil you may well want to save for something else.

Quicker still is unlocking the ability to fly with your Final Fantasy XIV mounts. That said, to do that, you’ll need to find all FFXIV Aether Currents locations in the area in which you want to fly, first. These transparent burst of blue light are scattered around in some tricksy places but, when you’ve got all of them in a certain area, you’ll be people to wave at your fellow adventurers from the skies. But, how are you going to get them all in the first place? Here’s how to get all FFXIV Shadowbringers mounts.

How to get all FFXIV mounts in Shadowbringers

Below is a list of all nine Final Fantasy 14 mounts added to the game as part of its third major expansion, Shadowbringers. Massive thanks goes to Mags02 on reddit for collating the following information, and for the lowdown on how to get some of the other new collectables. Anyway, here are all the new rideable creatures and how to unlock them.

FFXIV Grani mount

Featured prominently as the steed of the Warrior of Darkness, Grani is, sadly, only available to those who purchased the FFXIV Shadowbringers collector’s edition. This is an all-terrain mount, so it can fly, ride on land, and help you move faster underwater.

FFXIV War Tiger mount

While using the FFXIV Gunbreaker job, you’ll need to complete either 200 dungeons, EX trials, level 50/60/70 duty roulette dungeons, or duty roulette leveling duties to tick off the ‘Tank You, Gunbreaker II’ achievement. In other words, this is going to take you some serious time.

FFXIV Battle Tiger mount

And then, it’s going to take you even longer to get this one. Sticking with the new gun-wielding tank, you need to finish 300 of those endgame activities, rather than 200.

FFXIV Triceratops mount

If you want to ride around on a Final Fantasy dinosaur – and who wouldn’t, really – successfully tackle 2000 A and 1000 S rank hunts in Norvrandt for the ‘Nuts for Nutsy’ achievement.

FFXIV Amaro mount

Another time sink, this requires you to level all Disciple of War and Magic jobs to the cap of 80. Yes, all of them. We’ll leave our FFXIV leveling guide here, just in case you need it.

FFXIV Fae Gwiber mount

If you’re in the mood for a spot of Shakespearean comedy, complete the FFXIV Titania EX trial – The Dancing Plague at level 80, in other words. This only gives you a chance at getting the Fae Gwiber mount in FF14, so you might have to run this multiple times.

FFXIV Innocent Gwiber mount

Another FF14 mount, another EX trial. For this one you need to tackle FFXIV Innocence EX trial (Crown of the Immaculate) on its hardest difficulty. Dispatch Lightwarden Innocence for a chance at this collectable.

FFXIV Ironfrog Mover mount

Grind the ‘A Finale Most Formidable’ FATE in Kholusia for the currency known as Formidable Cogs. Get 12 of them and you can buy this automaton mount.

FFXIV Circus Ahriman mount

You’re going to have to wait a while to finish your collection, however. When All Saints Wake takes place in October 2019 you should be able to get Circus Ahriman, but we’ll update you as soon as we know more.

And that’s all there is to it: how to get all FFXIV mounts in Shadowbringers. You’ve got a fair few hoops through which you need to jump before you can get them all but, with some determination – and some grinding, of course – you’ll have an expanded collection of rideable beasties at your beck and call.
