FFXIV Mystery Miners is a side quest you may well encounter as you burn through the game’s third expansion, Shadowbringers. It’s only a side mission – so you don’t necessarily need to tick it off to see through the update’s turbulent tear-jerker of a Main Scenario – but you might need to complete a far few side tasks to help you grind to the necessary level to start each MSQ.
Of course that depends on how you play. If you take a look at our FFXIV leveling guide, you’ll see that there are plenty of ways to accumulate XP in the game but, if you’ve selected this side quest in the northwest corner of the new desert region of Amh Areang, you’re going to need to know how to tick it off.
According to the riddle that you get after you’ve approached the relevant quest giver, the FF14 Mystery Miners location is “On road leading afar, follow to the third star. Fear not the fall, look to the Wall. At the first dry giant’s heel, the brave wanderer must kneel”. Either you could use your intuition to trawl the map looking for it, or you could just follow our instructions – yeah, we thought as much. Your wish is our command, here’s how to complete the tricky FFXIV Mystery Miners quest.
FFXIV Mystery Miners quest location
With the sheer size of this dry wasteland in mind, you don’t actually have to travel that far to get to your secret objective. First, you need to head out of the settlement in which you picked up the mission and bear left down the lightly-coloured pathway. Stick with this direction past a hill on your left and a couple of small rocks on your right. Stop when you spot a tree with a glowing mark at its base.
This ethereal marker is your objective – see, we told you it wasn’t far. From there, all you need to do is interact with it and, at which you point, you’ll ‘kneel respectfully’ until you find a treasure chest beneath the sand. And that’s it, that’s how to complete Mystery Miners in FFXIV. If you’re looking for help on another tricky puzzle in Shadowbringers, here’s how to get the FFXIV City of the Ancients quest squared away. And, now that’s done, you can continue diving into the third expansion with a fresh dose of Gil and XP in your back pocket.
