While Firefall is still an unspecified but presumably lengthy while away from its release, Red 5 have been busy laying the groundwork for their MMO shooter as an eSports mainstay. Following the announcement of their eSports toolkit, the developer has committed to dedicate $1 million in prize money to Firefall tournaments next year, report Ten Ton Hammer.

The cash will presumably support Firefall’s Mobile Gaming Unit, a 48-foot-long touring truck which will bring competitive events to players at locations across the US, as well as major events similar to the ESL tournament at this year’s GamesCom.

Elsewhere in the game, Firefall’s cash shop is due to open at the end of this month, “hopefully”, but Red 5 aren’t going to risk damaging their shot at the eSports scene with off-the-peg buffs: while it’s a free-to-play MMO,they won’t“sell you power”.
