Firewatch gets pre-orders, pricing and four new, charming trailers

Firewatch trailers price

Firewatch is sneaking up on us like a particularly subtle forest inferno, peaking out from behind XCOM 2 to say “you better finish that quick.” It’s out on February 9th and pre-orders have just gone live on Steam, accompanied by four charming trailers in its signature whimsical style. It’s looking as lovely as ever, and it’s going for $17.99 / €17.99 / £13.49 until release, dropping the 10% discount once it’s out back up to the $20/£15 range.

Well it’s certainly one of the upcoming PC games I’m most excited for.

To celebrate moving into the final stage of pre-production, they’ve released four short teaser trailers. One is titled Ambiance and just shows off the remarkably gorgeous world with a little light music – nice, but not particularly impressive. The other three continue to show that this has a shot at being one of the best voice acted and written games of all time. It’s cute, it’s funny and it’s clearly had more time and effort put into that side of things than the majority of games. Here’s my favourite, because it involves a poop trowel:

But there’s also falling down things:

And flirting:

That’s all the bases covered then. They’re also fairly good examples of what you’ll be getting up to in-game – discovering things, some of which will be important, others which won’t, and all of which will have some story attached. Also, there’ll be a really big fire and probably some Light Peril, as the ratings boards put it.

It’s up on Steamif you want to take a closer look. We’ll be giving it the full PCGN review treatment on Monday, the day before it comes out, so do wait for that before going all-in.
