Five Nights at Freddy’s is getting an RPG spin-off called FNAF World

FNAF World

The ‘story’ of Five Nights at Freddy’s, such as it is, might be over now that the fourth and final game in the series has been released (a mere year after the first one), but it turns out that Scott Cawthon isn’t quite finished with his animatronic friends.

In a post on Steam, Cawthon revealed that a new game in the FNAF universe was in the works. It’s not Five Nights at Freddy’s 5, it’s FNAF World, an RPG that uses some of the same characters from the horror game.

“It’s very important for me to say again that there will NOT be a Five Nights at Freddy’s 5,” Cawthon emphasised on Steam. “The story is complete, and the Halloween update and new game will not add to it.

“That being said, I wanted to use these characters in a new and fun way because they are so near and dear to my heart, and I was excited to work on a type of game that I hadn’t made in a long time.”

Cawthon hasn’t revealed much about FNAF World, aside from the fact that you’ll be able to make a party out of characters from the other games, and that it won’t be a horror game. He had previously hoped to get a demo out for Halloween, but now says that this is unlikely due to the increased scope of the game.

A free demo will be released “as soon as it’s ready”.

Cheers, Polygon.
