Fortnite now has a two-player mech with a shotgun and missile launcher

A new season X Battlepass trailer coonfirms that mechs will indeed be a thing - and they're called "B.R.U.T.E."s

Following those teases and hints Epic Games has been dropping on Twitter in the run-up to season ten, which kicks off today, it looks like we’ve now got something pretty concrete to go by. As well as encouraging encouraging players to “think back” to Dusty Depot earlier this week, the studio said to “look forward”, hinting at the introduction of mechs – now, a new Battlepass trailer confirms players will indeed see mechs head to the battle royale.

A Battlepass trailer posted on Twitter by user HYPEX – Fortnite Leaks and News, showcases some of the new features coming to game in season ten – or “X”. It shows what at first looks like a meteor heading towards the ground, saying “season X is here, and the world is destabilising fast. But, don’t worry – that means there are a tonne of new ways to play Fortnite” – and then it’s revealed that the meteor is a controllable mech, with room for two.

In the rest of the trailer we see some cool shots of the two-player mech vehicle – which is called a “B.R.U.T.E.” and “packs some serious firepower”- in action, blasting away fiery shots and using a kind of jet-powered super-jump ability to hop onto a building, crushing it underfoot. According to some patch notes just released, it comes with a shotgun and a powerful missile launcher.

Following on from the epic kaiji-mecha battle that closed season 9 and the tweet from earlier this week, it’s probably unsurprising that mechs are heading to the game.

No doubt they’ll add something new to the mix, and although some players might be a little worried about what this might be, it’s going to be interesting to see how they’ll fit into season X.

If you’re keen to find out what else season X will hold when kicks off, its patch notes are teasing old locations, and offer more information about the cool new features the mechs will bring. The new season kicks off later today.
