Chicken Trooper is taking the Fortnite community by storm

After one fan's dad posted his adorable concept art, the Fortnite community has rallied around the now-famous Chicken Trooper

Fortnite season 6 is just around the corner, and what the community is about to get is anybody’s guess. Figuring out what they want, however, has recently been made a lot more simple, thanks to a request from one Reddit user showing off his son’s idea for a new in-game cosmetic.

Earlier this week, a Redditor named tfoust10 posted an image to the game’s subreddit, stating “for the last couple months my 8yr old [sic] has consistently asked me to submit this suggestion to Fortnite developers. So…there you go.” The post then shows a photo of a child’s drawing, asking Epic to “please add a skin in Fortnite called the Chicken Trooper.”

The follows some concept art for the Chicken Trooper, showing off an impressively buff-looking figure in a cockerel suit. For those of you who are aware of Fortnite’s skins, it’s vaguely reminiscent of the Durr Burger and Tomato Head skins, which are both fashioned after fast-food mascots. As yet, there’s no fried chicken joints in Fortnite, but given that there’s now only one proper restaurant on the entire island (RIP Tomato Town – and no, Taco Shops don’t count), there’s certainly room for another place to grab a bite.

The original post garnered a lot of attention on the game’s subreddit, with a whole bunch of fans flocking to offer their own take on the Chicken Trooper. You can check a few of them out in the gallery below. My particular favourite comes from user EtsyTurtle2, who’s designed an entire set of cosmetics to accompany the skin, from an Egg Whisk pickaxe, to some back-bling styled after a cracked egg.

In order, those images come from u/Nikodow, u/EtsyTurtle2, and u/Geektrain, all from Reddit.

We’re probably a little too close to Fortnite season 6 for Epic to get Chicken Trooper into the game this time around, but it’s definitely the kind of thing the devs could do in the future. Over the past year, the company has regularly taken on feedback and fan suggestions about what to add to the game in future – most famously, the now-iconic Orange Justice emote.

The Fortnite week 10 challenges are now out, and since you’ve only got a few days left of this season, it might be a good idea to check out how to make the most of your Battle Pass while we kill time and wait for Chicken Trooper to arrive.
