In the wake of full cross-play, you’ll soon be able to merge Fortnite accounts

Fortnite account merges are finally coming

Fortnite account merges are coming. After full cross-play across all platforms earlier was revealed today, Epic has confirmed that you’ll be able to merge any extra accounts you might’ve had. The first step will happen soon, while full account merges will be available in November.

“In a few days” you’ll be able to unlink a console from one Fortnite account and link it to another. That’s been a hassle for ages, since if you decided to link your Epic and PlayStation accounts together you could never do the same with Xbox and Nintendo accounts. If you created a separate account to get around the console limitations, this should help make things right.

But the big news is that in November, there’ll be an “account-merging feature to combine Battle Royale purchases.” So any straggling purchases you have in one version of the game or another will finally be brought together under a single account. No more wishing that one skin you really like was available on another platform.

As some fans note under the official Reddit announcement, this could be a boon for for hackers and account resellers, and Epic offers a friendly reminder to active two-factor authentication. It’s the smart thing to do, regardless.

The PS4 cross-platform beta went live earlier today, finally breaking down the barriers to let PC, PS4, Xbox, Switch, and mobile players all be one big happy family. With the Fortnite season 6 release date upon us, it’s a big week for battle royale fans and one that promises to only get bigger.
