Fortnite’s 2019 Halloween event is starting tomorrow

Fortnitemares 2019 will last for one week

Fortnite‘s about to get spooky as Fortnitemares returns for 2019. The Halloween-themed annual event will bring a host of ghoulish new skins as well as some other terrifying content.

The announcement was made on Twitter, the official Fortnite Twitter account goading players to “face your fears” and revealing things get horrifying starting October 29 at 13:00 UK time. Unlike previous years where the annual event lasted around a month, this time it only last a week, finishing on Monday, November 4. This is likely due to Epic wanting to keep Fortnite Chapter 2 rolling over smoothly, since it only launched a couple of weeks ago.

Many of this year’s Halloween skins leaked recently. Fortnite News uploaded a video to Twitter showing several off in-game, including a full skeleton suit that comes in black-and-white, and the dark energy-emanating Chaos Agent. A new Snuggs variation makes the bear-headed suit the stuff of nightmares, coating it head-to-toe in black. The fancy dress options are wide, at the very least.

Starting as a Save The World event in 2017, Fortnitemares became a staple of battle royale last year when evil cube monsters invaded the game. There was more lead-up in 2018, teased through a selection of vague images and short poems.

Epic has been trying to clamp down on Fortnite leaks, suing a tester for revealing Chapter 2’s new map before there was anything proper. Ironically, the map had actually been in the wild for some time, but nobody thought it was real.

No sign of what might happen to the island for this year’s Fortnitemares. We’ll just have to see for ourselves from tomorrow on.
