Fortnite Party Royale is live – a social hub to relax while you queue

Party Royale is here

April 29, 2020 Fortnite Party Royale is live.

Party Royale is now live in Fortnite. Epic quietly unleashed the new, combat-free mode after a host of the usual leaks and datamines but, as always, the launch comes without any official patch notes or breakdowns of new features. That means players have had to figure out what you can actually do in Party Royale – and so far, the options seem like a whole lot of fun.

Party Royale acts as a sort of social lobby for Fortnite, and takes place on a new, smaller map. While there’s no combat here, the map is littered with special challenges and minigames to take part in, and you can do things like hit up changing booths to adjust your outfit, or find the battle bus and directly queue for proper battle royale.

It all matches up with what we’ve seen from Fortnite dataminer ShiinaBR, who posted about the upcoming mode on Twitter, along with an aerial shot of the new island playground, codenamed ‘Papaya’.

Further to this, Fortnite leaker FireMonkey has posted a list of things that will reportedly be coming to Party Royale. This includes water balloons, a “quad crasher”, “paint launcher”, boat, tomato, paint, and burger grenades, a “choppa”, “boogie bomb”, and more.

Players are still digging up what you can actually do in Party Royale – and our update download is taking an age and a half – but it looks like we can expect an exciting new way to get stuck in to the game with the added location and party mode.

Given the ongoing situation that’s keeping players around the world suck  inside our homes, the non-combat Party Royale mode will surely be a fun place to chill with pals, play some games, and not have to worry about chasing down that next ‘Victory Royale’.
