Think your job interview was brutal? One company is holding them in Fortnite

A company has started holding unusual job interviews - they take place over a game of Fortnite.

Fortnite

If your favourite things in the world are Fortnite and job interviews, then you’re in luck. French ad agency Dare.Win is hiring for a six month internship post in their offices in Paris, and the company has announced that they plan to conduct the crucial interviews over a game of Fortnite. Huh.

Candidates are asked to add the team on Playstation Network, as that’s the version of Fortnite they’ll be using. If you’ve only ever played the game on PC with mouse and keyboard, you’ve probably already failed. Why the PS4 version? Because Playstation is one of Dare.Win’s clients, along with Spotify, Bacardi and YouTube. The second interview probably involves watching music videos while drinking rum.

Don’t worry though, the company aren’t judging you on your Fortnite prowess. “We’re not pro players ourselves,”  Dare.Win agent Thomas Brouchon told AdAge. “The way someone plays can say a lot about their personality, especially about decision-making and how they deal with problems.” So if you get shot before you’ve even picked up a gun, that’s a black mark right there.

The team picked Fortnite because it’s free-to-play, so anyone can get in – well, as long as they have a PS4. Candidates play alongside the Dare.Win staff in a crew for an hour. Here’s a tip: if any of them get downed, risk your life to pick them up immediately. That’ll go down well.

Boris Lavergne, another agency creative, explained the process a little. “The questions will be mostly job-related, but there will also be questions about entertainment, their hobbies, their life. No pressure really. We’re here to meet new people and have fun doing it.”

If you’re interested, you can apply here. The team have already gamed with candidates from Turkey, Sweden and Mexico, apparently. Anyone who doesn’t want to play Fortnite, or can’t play for any reason (like not owning a console), can get in touch for a more standard, terrifying interview.
