That X: Rebirth trailer is astonishing. So gorgeous.

For me, it's got to be seeing what CCP do with EveVR. That's essentially my dream game, right there.

I've only played it for three minutes but it's my game of the year so far.

STARBOUND.

If this thing is anywhere as addictive as I found Terraria...

I can't wait.

Been following this game. Looks much more advanced then terraria but we're going to have to wait. Can't find beta or alpha access. Hopefully will still remember this game when it does get released.

Wow, the X: Rebirth trailer is beautiful. And you can actually wander around your ship? I love those kind of details.

As for later on this year, I've got all eyes on Battlefield 4. I recently got back into Battlefield 3 so I'm looking forward to seeing what little changes get made to the systems. Plus Commander Mode. Yay!

It does look as if Rebirth will be bringing to singleplayer most of what Star Citizen is offering.  Can't wait!

I've watched the videos a couple of times now and I can't quite believe they've gone and made it. Amazing.

I believe they're a VERY small studio as well.  X3 was impressive, X3 Albion was even better, but this looks like another level.

Rome 2 - I'm already thinking of ways to schedule its campaigns into my life. I've even coincided the writing of a historical dissertation with the release of the game - I just wish I could cite Total War as a source.

There's GTA V too, which will be fantastic. The prospect of setting my 3D feet inside Rockstar's world again is so damn tantalising. I'm not expecting anything different to previous iterations, only more of it.

I've been constantly arguing with myself over which campaign to play first in Rome 2. On the one hand, it's called Rome, so starting with the Romans seems to be a good plan.

On the otherhand, I love the idea of leading off as a Barbarian faction and smashing Rome up.

I love the look of the X series, I really want to play them, but their sheer size is a little daunting. I might clear out a weekend and play X3. :D

Rome II is pretty high up on my list. I must have played through the prologue four times now.

I remember picking up the X games in a shop and thinking "I should get into this", but I always backed out. Well now I own all the of them on Steam, there's really no excuse. Tell me: Which one should I play first and why?

If you want to experience the slightly silly sci-fi story from the very beginning, start with X: Beyond the Frontier. If you're more interested in the sandbox stuff all you really need is X3: Albion Prelude. It's the expansion for X3: Terran Conflict, and is the most polished and deepest of the bunch.

I think that most players would agree that it's the sandbox universe that's the main draw of the series, so my recommendation would be to just skip everything and jump straight into Albion Prelude.

Doesn't AB try a force you into a story? I remember trying to set up trade routes and ending up in a massive firefight

Man, I'm slow at replying.

While all of the games have a story mode, they also come with a sandbox option. You just select a very vague background and do what you want without being pushed along a set story.

Oh ho. When German fiction meets American accents.

I'd actually never seen that review.  Had a right old giggle at it earlier.

Quietly giddy for Dishonored's last DLC entry next week. I think I'd be happy to follow Arkane down that furrow of inspired level design forever.

I want to be cool in space. I missed the heyday of the space sim back in the 90s, so I'm very much looking forward to Star Citizen and, as of today, X: Rebirth (that one just popped up from nowhere). Elite: Dangerous, Limit Theory and a few others are on that list as well. I'm thinking Oculus Rift here.

Other, less space related wants: Arma 3, GTA V, Gone Home, Wasteland 2 and Project Eternity.

Check out the other games in the X series.  X3 and its expansions still stand up very well I'd say.

I'm struggling to think of a game I'm looking forward to that isn't a Kickstarter project. Sattelite Reign is going to be very interesting because I really don't know if I like what they're doing with it. I backed it to find out one way or the other. Payday 2 stood out for me, but recent preview articles have given me the impression that it's still mostly a cop-shooter rather than a heist planner, so that's fallen off my radar until the reviews come out to confirm or deny.

DayZ standalone and the new Command and Conquer are at the top of my PC gaming radar. Everquest Next also looks quite interesting, but I've been burned by too many MMOs in the past to get too excited.

ROME 2, Gta V,  Elder Scrolls online, Neverwinter, Game Dev Tycoon 2 and anything related to Oculus Rift technology.

Europa Universalis IV. I've been holding off on playing the demo as I know I'll only get frustrated by the time limit and lack of saving, but all the reports seem very positive.

Also, Starbound. I've been reading the daily progress reports as part of my morning ritual for months now, it can't come out soon enough.

The Witcher 3.  Looks good and I trust anything from CD Projekt Red and they've treated their customers well.  Apart from that I'm looking forward to playing dozens of indie games I've got but don't have the time for at the moment.

I love CD Projekt Red. Ditching DRM and releasing free content for their ambitious titles have made them some kind of a wonderful anomaly in the game industry.
