The layoffs were made 11 days before Christmas, at the end of the working day on Friday December 14. Frontier are currently developing Kickstarting Elite: Dangerous with the aim of raising £1.25m, with the total raised currently standing at £780,000.
The decision to layoff the staff members was “due to the changing mix of skills requirements,” managing director David Walsh told Eurogamer today, explaining that those made redundant held art, animation and audio roles. He said the changes would not affect any of the studio’s current projects, including Elite: Dangerous.
Thanks, of course, to Eurogamer.
