Watch mammoth mechs make their mark in Gears of War 4‘s launch trailer

Gears of War 4 mechs

“Never fight alone,” touts the latest Gears of War 4 trailer, which hit YouTube today ahead of the game’s launch on October 11. If said video is anything to go by, far from fighting alone, players are set to be encased within the kind of mechs that would make even Hideo Kojima a little jealous.

The latest trailer touts itself as a “gameplay” splash, though in truth it’s the kind of carefully orchestrated carousel of cut-scenes that have become part and parcel of any Gears of War promo push.

I’m not complaining, either: The whole thing looks a little bit brilliant. As well as the aforementioned mechs – which look as if they’ll be capable of strapping on huge weapons to their arms – come a rush of different adversaries that’d make even Jabba the Hutt look a little on the thin side.

Most excitingly, the battles are set to be a step up from any previous Gears of War games in terms of pure scale.

According to PCGamesN’s Robert Zak, there’s plenty for PC gamers to look forward to when Gears of War 4 hits the digital shelves next month, too.

Though Microsoft may be keen on pushing this as an Xbox One release (and a key one at that, as it looks to make up lost ground on PS4), we now know the PC version will be something of a “technical powerhouse”, and arguably even better than the Xbox edition.
