Here’s the first Gears 5 campaign trailer – it features Cole in a mech suit

Here's a taste of the Gears 5 campaign

Gears 5 got its proper gameplay reveal at E3 earlier this year, but it started a drought of information on the campaign – now Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom show has finally changed that. Still no proper gameplay footage from the story, but now we’ve got the first trailer for the campaign. Among many other things, it features Cole in a mech suit.

Keep scrolling for that full trailer, but it’s not the only news we’ve heard on Gears 5 today. Pre-orders have gone live on Steam (and the Windows Store), a previously-announced first for the series. You will have to have an Xbox Live account to play multiplayer on the Steam version, but you will not have to pay for the Gold subscription.

The Coalition has taken the opportunity to break down loads of what to expect from the PC version on the official site, include updated system requirements, and a rundown of the custom features you should expect – from custom FOV to ultrawide resolution support, all the way up to the frankly ridiculous 32:9 aspect ratio.

There’s also a Halo: Reach crossover that’ll let you play as Emile-A239 and Kat-B320, so you can get all your Microsoft-published shooter heroes in a single place.

You can check out the new campaign trailer above.

The Gears 5 release date is set for September 10, and you can follow that link for loads more on everything we know about the game so far.
