Gods and Monsters protagonist Fenyx is “fully customisable”

Gods and Monsters has a “fully customisable” protagonist

More details about Ubisoft’s new IP, Gods and Monsters, has been released, revealing that the game will feature a fully customisable protagonist, have resource and stamina management, and fast-paced aerial combat.

In an interview with Ubisoft’s official blog, Gods and Monsters creative director Jonathan Dumont and senior producer Marc-Alexis Côté talked about what players can expect from the game’s story and gameplay. Building from the work and research compiled for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Dumont and Côté share details about how Gods and Monsters will have a “light and humorous story” and “a rigorous historical approach.”

“The narrator, Homer, is telling his grandchildren this story,” explains Dumont. “But, his grandkids are interrupting and asking questions along the way. Mythology has a good sense of humor, oftentimes, so there are certain instances where we like to poke fun at things. You can expect a different approach for how the story is told, but a similar tone to what we’ve done in the past.”

The protagonist, Fenyx, is “fully customisable” character, and you can change their appearance, armor, gear, and stats to your liking. God and Monsters has “over-the-top” combat that pits you against a whole host of monsters including Typhon, Gorgons, Cyclopes, and Hydras.

Dumont says, “You can expect fast-paced combat that takes place on the ground and the air.” This bombastic combat can be seen in the trailer that shows Fenyx slashing a very angry Harpie right in the face.
