H1Z1: King of the Kill eSports to debut on The CW, with $300,000 tournament finals

H1Z1 early access

The CW, fine purveyors of extremely medium TV entertainment like Supergirl, Flash and the muchly under-loved Arrow, will broadcast the finals of H1Z1’s King of the Kill tournament. That’s on April 20, and leading up to it will be an “esports docuseries” called Fight for the Crown, following the Echo Fox team in their pursuit of glory.

The tournament itself is for $300,000, with four teams already confirmed, though no maximum announced on the official site[http://www.h1z1fightforthecrown.com/]. Those already involved are quite well known eSports teams, particularly Rogue and Echo Fox, so competition should be fierce. Prizes break down like this:

  • 1st – $180,000
  • 2nd – $60,000
  • 3rd – $30,000
  • 4th – $18,000
  • 5th – $12,000

Everyone else just gets a nice trip to downtown LA, where the tournament will take place. Do check the trailer above for more details.
