Take a look at the new Goblins vs Gnomes cards coming to Hearthstone – over 120 of ’em. Before today, we’ve only been able to stare at those images through the cold pane of our monitors, like so much WoW concept art. But today is the launch date of Hearthstone’s new expansion, which means you can now pick those cards up with your mouse and fling them about the board as minions, spells and whatnot.
UPDATE: The comment section attests to the fact that the expansion hasn’t yet made it to European climes. Hrrm.
Goblins vs Gnomes arrived yesterday in America, Oceania and South East Asia, and has spilled out across the rest of the world since.
The new cards range from gnomish machines to malevolent demon lords, and some will provide players with opportunities to steer Hearthstone’s element of RNG to their advantage.
New mech cards with the ‘pilot’ effect, for instance, will parachute in another set-strength random minion upon death.
At Blizzcon this year, Hearthstone producer Yong Wootold PCGamesN that RNG “actually increases the level of skill required to master the game”.
“What [randomness] does is force you to problem solve in circumstances that you never thought you’d be in,” he said. “It becomes an interesting, novel decision to have to make. And I think it gives high-level players a tremendous amount of space to differentiate themselves in their level of thinking and skill.”
What do you reckon? Will you be playing with the expansion’s gnomish experiments in RNG?
