Crypt of the NecroDancer trailer reminds us we still aren’t playing this excellent looking game

There are some games that give an itch. This itch won’t go till you can play the thing. Nothing short of playing it will scratch the itch and being reminded of the itch just makes that itch worse. Crypt of the NecroDancer is one such game. I want it to be playable on the screen in front of me more than I want to Jeremy to get bail before his shift starts tomorrow.

All the new trailer does is show how excellent a game it is and that we aren’t able to play it yet.

I keep reading comments that slate games for using pixel art and for being roguelikes. There will no doubt be similar comments made about Crypt of the NecroDancer. Those comments will be made by people who don’t see the utter joy in the union between beat gaming mechanics and the roguelike genre. The sheer balls of the juxtaposition is worth our attention. That the whole thing looks to actually work is a marvel.

On top of the core essentials of the game is the fact you can plug your own music in and have the engine generate a dungeon based on your playlist. The difficulty is determined by the tempo of the music.

I challenge you all to try playing this when Crypt of the NecroDancer releases:
