First details of Amnesia: Machine for Pigs emerge: set in 1899

A mysterious teaser site trailering Frictional Games/thechineseroom’s collaboration “Amnesia – A Machine For Pigs” has appeared, containing a small timer that counts down to what appears to be 00:00 CEST (1:00 GMT) on Friday 15th. It also brings confirmation of the the game’s settings and (maybe) lead character.

“The year is 1899. Wealthy industrialist Oswald Mandus has returned home from a disastrous expedition to Mexico, which has ended in tragedy. Wracked by fever, haunted by dreams of a dark machine, he recovers consciousness in his own bed, with no idea of how much time has passed since his last memory. As he struggles to his feet, somewhere beneath him, an engine splutters, coughs, roars into life…”

Most of this was already confirmed by the ARG (Alternate Reality Game) Frictional Games ran earlier this year to announce the game and also their partnership with thechineseroom. That’s thechineseroom, creators of Dear Esther. So, quite exciting, then.

Are we finally going to get a glimpse at the machine? Will we find out why it’s exclusively for pigs? My guess Is both of those things in the form of a trailer. Stay tuned.
