Hover: Revolt of Gamer kicks a bucket of neon over Mirror’s Edge

Hover: Revolt of Gamer

It’s Jet Set Radio Future! No, it’s Mirror’s Edge! No, both wrong. It’s actually Hover: Revolt of Gamer, a parkour game about saving videogames from corrupt governments. Apparently any game with free running automatically comes coupled with the dystopian politics storyline. But don’t let that distract you from the dizzying array of colour. Let it seep into your eyeballs and addle your mind. That’s it. Now watch the trailer.

What did you make of that? Hover’s developer Fusty Games wants the game to run in VR on the Oculus Rift, so just imagine what an absolute brainbuster that would be. But regardless of how much retina that quick demo has burnt off your eyes, it’s hard not to be a little impressed. Hover boasts an open world full of parkour opportunities, rails to grind on, and a character who can pull off a selection of tricks (this is real flashy parkour, not that bland point a-to-point-b nonsense). There seems to be a sense of weight to the character, and whilst there doesn’t seem to be a heck of a lot happening in the alpha footage other than running around, it could well develop into a wonderful slice of epileptic-unfriendly fun.

When do we get it? Who knows, but you can help usher in its arrival by giving it a good old thumbs up on Steam Greenlight.

Cheers, Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
