Hyper Light Drifter footage shows combat designed to make non-backers mighty envious

Hyper Light Drifter Heart Machine

Hyper Light Drifter’s Kickstarter campaign was more than a little successful. Heart Machine was looking for $27,000. He ended up raising more than $645.000.

Still, there are folk out there that didn’t back Heart Machine’s campaign and after you see the footage of the game in action you’re going to regret that decision.

Keeping in mind that “this is all pre-alpha footage, so there are animations missing, sounds missing, and the leveling up system is not currently in place”, it’s good to see the game looking so close to its original concept art. Often we see games that aren’t able to match the quality of still images when it comes to animating them but Hyper Light Drifter’s visuals deliver.

The game’s music, too, is all slow-build, throbbing synth. I’m a big fan.

You can keep abreast of updates on its Kickstarter pageand pre-order the game through Heart Machine’s website(a procedure that makes my whole opening about jealousy and envy of backers somewhat redundany but, hey, I like a strong opening and weak ending).
