Insurgency: Sandstorm livestream – Griff and Caroline play the year’s toughest shooter

Out today on Steam, Insurgency: Sandstorm might be the most realistic shooter of the year. It’s team-based, it’s tactical, and it’s very, very tough. Who better to try it out than PCGamesN’s notoriously fearless streaming duo, Griff and Caroline? Well, we say fearless, but both have been known to faint at the sight of nosebleeds. But a bit of hardcore military shooting will be good for them. Character-building, you might say.

Developed and published by New World Interactive, Insurgency: Sandstorm is based on the original indie breakout shooter, Insurgency. One well-aimed shot can kill you here, which means you can never get too comfortable – this is a warzone after all. Centring on close-quarters combat in the Middle Eastern theatre, it’s all about carefully lining up shots, managing ammo reserves, taking calculated risks, and navigating an environment where lots of people want you dead.

But wait, did that make it sound boring? Insurgency: Sandstorm also lets you bash down doors! And call in airstrikes! And partake in eight-player co-op battles against the AI. That’s better. A bit of excitement. Now we’re talking.

Griff and Caroline will be trying their hands at several modes, whether that’s the campaign, the co-op, or the 16v16 multiplayer mode. And when it all gets too harrowing, they might indulge in a little bit of character dress-up too. Who knows? Anyway, Insurgency: Sandstorm is years in the making, so come watch them live and see what all the fuss is about.
