Devs celebrate women in games by hosting a Steam sale and donating the proceeds to charity

Cheap games to support charity - what's not to love?

In celebration of the UN-created observance, International Day of the Girl on October 11, a host of developers and publishers are joining forces to raise awareness for women and games and raise funds for charity. Companies like 505 Games, Fullbright, Supergiant, and XSEED are putting their titles on sale through Steam and Chrono.gg, and will donate a percentage of the proceeds to charity.

The charity is War Child – and its US-based fundraising partner, Children in Conflict – which works to help kids caught up in conflict zones around the world. War Child has built gaming partnerships in the past – its collaboration with This War of Mine brought in over $500,000 to support the charity’s efforts.

Besides the sales, a number of studios and community members are taking part by playing games featuring female protagonists throughout the week while raising funds for charity. You can tune in for streams for Bethesda, Turtle Rock Studios, Chucklefish, OpheliaNoir, Dawnwhisper, Hannah Rutherford, KattStrike, and TeamJDubzy.

Which games are donating to War Child?
