Piccolo and Cell bring even more Dragon Ball to Jump Force

Jump Force will feature Piccolo and Cell

Jump Force has no shortage of Dragon Ball characters already, and it’s about to get two more: Piccolo and Cell. That’ll help fill out the roster of bad and not-so-bad-but-still-sometimes-bad guys, and today has also brought news of a couple of characters who haven’t been in the spotlight quite as often this decade: Kenshin Himura and Makoto Shishio.

The news comes only in text form via Japanese magazine V Jump, so we don’t yet know how the characters will look in the game’s unique visual style. Official trailers and screenshots usually follow these details pretty quickly, so we likely won’t have long to wait.

EventHubs brought us translated news of the new arrivals. Piccolo and Cell join previously-announced Dragon Ball stars Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. So now DBZ ties One Piece with five characters each.

Not every series represented in Jump Force has been going quite as strong as those two all these years, though. Despite various revivals, Rurouni Kenshin hasn’t been in the mainstream for quite a while, but Kenshin and Shishio will join folks from Saint Seira, Yu Yu Hakusho, and others in ensuring the anime classics are covered in the brawler.

The Jump Force release date is set for February 15. It’s a very different type of game, but all this DBZ representation is going to mean plenty of comparisons against Dragon Ball FighterZ – it’ll be tough to look good against Arc System Works’ excellent fighting game.
