If you haven’t driven a racing kart then you won’t know how terrifyingly close to the road you are when doing it. Imagine going 60mph and sitting a couple of inches above the asphalt with only a measly bit of aluminium preventing your butt from taking a nasty scrape across the track.
Oh, it’s plenty of fun, sure, but the danger – the danger! This is something that kart racing sim KartKraft captures as it has you virtually experience what it’s like to whizz around a racetrack with no suspension. Developer Black Delta has gone all-out in its recreation of the sport through the application of realistic vehicle physics.
What this means is that you’ll hear your tyres squeal as they deform due to the pressures of going around a tight corner. Astoundingly, the developer has scanned actual racetracks with the same tech use in laser-guided missile systems. So every bump and crack on the road is present and you’ll be able to feel them send shockwaves through your driver’s body as each bump wrestles for control of the kart.
You can get a look at KartKraft in action below – please note that this is not real-life footage of a person driving a kart around a track, it’s a game.
Living up to the ‘Kraft’ part of its title, KartKraft also lets you customise your kart how you like, with 60 components and over 1000 parts that all affect handling. If you know your carburetors from your torison bars then you’ll be at home tweaking every single part of your chassis.
We’re telling you all this because we have ten Steam keys for KartKraft to give away. You can win one of them – all you have to do is enter the competition via the widget below. Every action you complete is worth one entry into the giveaway, with the more actions you complete increasing your chances of winning.
