Speculation surrounding new Lenovo Legion Go models has been bubbling away over the past few weeks, and Lenovo just poured a ton of gasoline onto the fire as it just dropped the price of the current Legion Go to under $500 for the first time.
The Lenovo Legion Go is one of the best handheld gaming PCs outside of the Steam Deck. It offers more raw power and a Nintendo Switch-style controls scheme that saw it launch as one of the more stylistically unique alternatives to Valve's handheld.
While it's far from surprising to see the Lenovo Legion Go fall to $499.99 based on its recent price trajectory, what is surprising is that Lenovo still refuses to reveal its plans for future handhelds.
At this price, the Lenovo Legion Go is a fantastic product, offering an 8.8-inch, 2,560 x 1,600, 144Hz display, 512GB SSD, 16GB LPDDR5X-7500 RAM, and an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU. Its gaming performance trumps the Steam Deck with ease, with numbers very similar to that of the Asus ROG Ally.
Leaked plans rarely lead to accelerated timelines, but the price of the current Legion Go has reached a pretty remarkable new low, just weeks after the most recent major price cut, meaning all eyes are on Lenovo with the expectation that an announcement is coming soon.
Whether it's the Lenovo Legion Go Lite, Legion Go 2, both, or something completely different, it appears as though Lenovo is trying to shift existing stock of its current generation handheld fast. This is especially confusing considering it could have waited for Black Friday to introduce this huge price cut.
