Mad Max trailer is infuriatingly short

Finally we’re seeing some footage of Mad Max. It’s not unaltered in-game footage, unfortunately, but a produced teaser trailer. That said, it’s got my inner road warrior itching to get out and rob a bandit or two.

And, for a game about Mad Max, Avalanche get to the point quickly, showing cars loaded up with blades, guns, and cow catchers smashing into one another.

Looks fun, doesn’t it? I like the bit with the cars.

Warner Brothers were right to pick Avalanche to develop Mad Max. They were the folk behind Just Cause 2, a game that threw you at a tropical open world, armed with a grappling hook and a backpack that could infinitely spawn parachutes. Why, because that’s fun. And Avalanche do fun long before they do realism.

I mean, just have a read of Mad Max’s plot to get get a gauge on where Avalanche sit on the line between serious and silly. “Following the theft of his iconic Interceptor, Max must align himself with a gifted, but peculiar, mechanic named Chumbucket and others to build the ultimate war vehicle as he works to escape from the dangerous Wasteland.”

That, to me, sounds like a set up for maximum carnage with very few hammy-acted emotional scenes.

Hopefully we should hear more details about Mad Max at E3 this year.
