BioWare’s Aaryn Flynn confirms that Mass Effect: Andromeda will not have a season pass

Mass Effect Andromeda Bridge

In yet more Mass Effect: Andromeda news filtering out over the past few days, BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn has confirmed that the game will not have a season pass, causing many to breathe a sigh of relief.

If you need more space adventure in your life, check out these PC space games.

Answering fan questions on Twitter, Flynn responded to the query with a flat out “Nope”, but did not rule out the possibility of story DLC later down the line, simply stating that they’ll reveal their plans in the near future. Let’s hope BioWare have learned their lesson after the Mass Effect 3 ending DLC debacle and have a good grasp on any potential story DLC to come post-launch.

EA seem to have weaned itself off its season pass obsession, as Mass Effect: Andromeda marks the second triple A title after Titanfall 2 which has lacked a season pass. The overwhelming negative response to previous season passes like the one present with Star Wars Battlefront must have finally caused EA to kick the habit.

If you want early access to Mass Effect: Andromeda, producer Michael Gamble has confirmed that a portion of the game will be playable early for members of Origin Access. I imagine this early slice will be similar to EA’s other early access initiatives, where players get a maximum of ten hours with the game before locking out until Mass Effect: Andromeda’s March 21 launch.

Thanks, PC Gamer.
