Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition lands in time for Christmas

First released back in 2006, Flight Simulator X is finally making a touchdown on Steam and just in time for Christmas, too.

There’s stacks of planes, missions, and airports to visit and the promise a future add-ons in the works.

Taking a break from Train Simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition is being put together by Dovetail Games. They plan to have it ready for 18 December.

The game will launch with more than 20 aircraft, including helicopters, and over 80 missions to fly them in. Dovetail have integrated the multiplayer with Steam, meaning it should be easy to find your friends and get a game started.

There’s a staggering 24,000 airports to visit. Though, I imagine they won’t be too richly detailed, largely built from aerial maps but, still, 24,000!

Dovetail aren’t stopping with this initial release: they’ve a licensing deal that lets them produce add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, too. And, with the history of DLC for Train Simulator, that should mean a stack of extra planes will be arriving soon.
