Microsoft’s HoloLens demo manipulates the fabric of 3D space, but more importantly includes a Holo Dog

HoloLens Dog

Microsoft have been showing off their augmented reality device, the HoloLens, at this year’s BUILD 2015. The demonstration does some pretty nifty stuff: you can open up apps in front of your face, before flinging them across the room, inevitably ending up sticking to your walls like fridge magnets.

But, arguably, the coolest feature is a holographic canine companion.

While I doubt “Fang” will be replacing household pets anytime soon, I’m sure Microsoft will be finding other uses for your own little personal 3D friend. The first thing that springs to mind is Fable: HoloLens and Kinect director, Kudo Tsundoa, is already said to be leading Lionhead in a bigger role at Microsoft.

Meanwhile however, the brain behind the Fable series, Peter Molyneux, think that Microsoft need stop over-promising on the HoloLens. After the broken promises with Godus, and that horrible Kinect Milo demo many E3’s ago, I’d actually heed his advice.
