Build on the tabletop with the Minecraft: Builders and Biomes board game

Steve hits the tabletop

Minecraft isn’t just a game, it’s a lifestyle – at least, that’s the impression I get from the endless toys, clothes, and books I see with Steve and the Creepers on the cover. Now, it’s time for the next logical step: a Minecraft board game. We’re getting exactly that later this month with a new, construction-focused tabletop game built in collaboration between Mojang and Ravensburger.

Minecraft: Builders and Biomes has you digging materials out of a central resource block made up of 64 wooden cubes, for a tactile mining experience. Each turn has you explore the overworld, collect weapons, fight mobs, and build structures out of the resources you’ve dug from that central cube.

The game is now available in Europe for €39.99, and hits US shelves on November 15 for $39.99. It supports two to four players, and has an average playtime of 30 minutes to one hour. You can get more details on the official store page.

Between Minecraft Earth and Minecraft Dungeons, the now-venerable sandbox is also getting plenty of expansion on digital platforms too.

Soon enough, there’ll probably be physical toys you can use to build things, just like in Minecraft. Who’d have thought?
