Starting Friday, Monster Hunter: World players will be able to earn special Mega Man palico gear, and play a special limited-time event quest.
The Mega Man Collaboration event begins at midnight UTC Friday and runs through November 1. During that time, you’ll be able to earn a special pixel-themed Mega Man outfit for your palico companion.
To craft the Mega Man gear, you’ll need to accept the Rush of Blood event quest from the Girl with the Green Ribbon. The quest will charge you with hunting two Odogaron, Monster Hunter: World’s extremely angry version of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Clearing the quest will net you Mega Man tickets, and you’ll need three of those to craft the Mega Man α armor set. Two more, and you’ll be able to craft the Mega Buster palico weapon. Important to note that you’ll also need to be Hunter Rank 13 or above to accept the quest.
In a fun touch, the background music for the quest will change depending on which weapon you’re using; a wry nod to the classic 8-bit Mega Man titles.
Capcom has made these crossover events a mainstay of the Monster Hunter series. In Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, for instance, there were Mario and Luigi costumes to collect for your palicoes, plus a Metroid-themed additional quest to download.
The Mega Man crossover ran April 13-26 for console players, but it’ll be picking up on PC right after the Autumn Harvest event wraps up October 18. There are sure to be more limited-time events in the future, so we’ll let you know as soon as we hear about them. In the meantime, happy hunting.
