GeForce NOW features well over 70 games covering every genre you could hope for, including racing games, shooters, platforming adventures and more, so whatever your mood you’ll be able to find something to play, and with NVIDIA’s gaming supercomputers doing all the hard work you’ll see everything at maximum quality and at up to 60fps 1080p. There’s a whole host of titles included with your subscription, plus a range of premium games – including smash hits such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Saints Row IV – that you can buy and play instantly.

Submerged is the latest addition to the premium library and is a must-play title on GeForce NOW. Submerged has plenty of the traditional gaming ingredients – a post-apocalyptic drowned city to explore, a dying brother to save, supplies and hidden objects to find and increasingly challenging buildings to climb – but it all plays out in a pleasingly relaxed and gentle way.

As a young girl called Miku, you sail into the city in a little fishing boat with your wounded brother, with the simple aim of finding vital supplies that will save his life. Armed only with a telescope that you can use to search the city from afar and pinpoint supply locations that you can mark on your map, you set off through the flooded streets, docking at tall buildings and landmarks so that you can climb ladders, vines, pipes and ledges to find essential supplies and hidden objects that will tell the story of how the city came to be submerged.

The climbing aspect is where things become most challenging. While getting to the top of buildings is initially fairly straightforward, as you progress you’ll find that things become a lot trickier, and you’ll have to attempt various approaches – and encounter plenty of frustrating dead ends – before you get to the top.

If you get completely stuck, however, the best thing to do is simply stop climbing and jump back into your boat, to just sail around and do some sightseeing. On your way through the vast open city you’ll discover an array of beautiful sea life, as well as the remnants – mysterious creatures that watch you from the rooftops.

What you won’t find, though, are gun-toting enemies out to kill you. The joy of Submerged is that it’s a non-violent game of exploration, and one that you can play entirely at your own pace, taking time to drink in the glorious views and observe the various sea creatures going about their business. There’s always something new to discover, but absolutely no rush to do so.

Developed by Uppercut games, an Australian indie studio consisting of BioShock veterans, Submerged is available now for $19.99 on GeForce NOW.
