Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super guide - the latest gaming GPU specs rumors

Nvidia RT 5070 Super specs rumors suggest this new graphics card will not only have loads more GDDR7 VRAM, but also more CUDA cores.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super graphics card rumor.

What can we expect to see in the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super specs? Nvidia hasn't even officially announced this gaming GPU yet, but several leaks already point to it offering a substantial upgrade over the existing RTX 5070. Not only is it looking likely to have more core GPU power to improve gaming performance, but there are also rumors that it has 50% more memory than the original 5070.

More memory could certainly make this rumored Nvidia GPU much more competitive, as my RTX 5070 review showed that the current card sometimes simply falls over once you start enabling advanced ray tracing features in some of the latest games, as it doesn't have enough VRAM. Comparatively, while the competing AMD Radeon RX 9070 is more expensive when it comes to real-world pricing, it's generally more powerful across the board, even if it can't cope with Doom The Dark Ages path tracing.

RTX 5070 Super specs estimate

This is our best estimate for the RTX 5070 Super specs, based on leaks and speculation, as no official announcement has been made.

Rumored RTX 5070 Super specs
GPU GB205-400-A1
CUDA cores 6,400
RT cores 50
Tensor cores 200
VRAM 18GB 28Gbps GDDR7
Memory interface 192-bit
Memory bandwidth 672GB/s
TGP 275W

Our first glimpse of an RTX 5070 Super specs list came from regular, and often reliable, tech leaker kopite7kimi in a post on X (formerly Twitter). As such, bear in mind that Nvidia hasn't announced anything about this GPU officially, but kopite7kimi has fine form for Nvidia leaks, including nailing the RTX 5060 Ti, 5060, and 5050 specs months before their release.

Based on this leak, the new RTX 5070 Super looks as though it's set to use 3GB GDDR7 memory chips instead of the 2GB ones used in the current RTX 5070. This would enable Nvidia to increase the amount of memory from 12GB to 18GB without having to expand the width of the memory interface, which looks set to remain the same as the RTX 5070, at 192 bits wide. According to the leak, this RTX 5070 Super VRAM will also run at the same 28Gbps speed as the current 5070's memory, resulting in a total memory bandwidth of 672GB/s.

Unlike the rumored RTX 5080 Super, however, it looks as though the RTX 5070 Super is also going to get a boost in GPU rendering performance as well, with Nvidia enabling some of the parts of the GB205 chip that are currently disabled in the standard RTX 5070.

According to he latest leaks, the RTX 5070 Super has 6,400 CUDA cores, rather than the 6,144 in the standard RTX 5070, which suggests it has 50 Nvidia Streaming Multiprocessors (SMs) enabled. If that's the case, it will also have 50 RT cores for ray tracing and 200 Tensor cores for AI work, such as Nvidia DLSS.

With 18GB of VRAM at its disposal, the RTX 5070 Super would have even more memory than the pricier RTX 5080, as well as the RTX 5070 Ti. While not all games require more than 12GB of VRAM, I found that the lack of memory on the RTX 5070 caused Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to saturate the memory, resulting in huge frame rate drops, when using its Full RT path tracing mode. With 18GB of memory, these problems will disappear.

RTX 5070 Super price estimate

Our best estimate for the RTX 5070 Super price is $549.99, based on leaks and speculation, as no official announcement has been made. When Nvidia launched the RTX 4070 Super, it came in at the same price as the original 4070 at $599.99, while the price of the 4070 dropped to $549.99, and we're expecting a similar strategy from Nvidia here.

The RTX 5070's main problem when competing against the Radeon RX 9070, and even the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB to some extent, is its lack of memory. If Nvidia can bring out an 18GB card with more rendering power at the same $549.99 price, then it will be onto a winner, possibly forcing down the price of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 in the process.

A recent leak from YouTuber tech leaker Moore's Law is Dead suggested that while the RTX 5080 is due to be scrapped, along with the 5070 Ti to make way for the RTX 5080 Super and RTX 5070 Ti Super, there are apparently no such plans for the RTX 5070, and if the two GPUs are going to coexist side by side then it makes sense for Nvidia to repeat the same strategy we saw with the RTX 4070 Super pricing.

RTX 5070 Super launch window estimate

Our best estimate for the RTX 5070 Super launch window is Q1 2026, meaning the period from January to March 2026, based on leaks and speculation, as no official announcement has been made.

While Moore's Law is Dead has stated that the 5070 Super could come out before the end of 2025, recent reports based on talking to graphics card manufacturers have instead pointed to a potential 5070 Super launch in 2026, possibly with a reveal at CES 2026.

Unlike the RTX 5080 Super, which Moore's Law is Dead says may not come out until 2026, as it might use 36Gbps VRAM, the RTX 5070 Super will apparently stick with the same 28Gbps GDDR7 memory speed of its predecessor. If these rumors are true, the RTX 5070 Super may be out before the 5080 Super.
