Nvidia’s RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 is real… and here’s how you win one

It's a real shame that Nvidia missed the opportunity to have an ‘RTX 2077’ card. The name’s right there, come on.

Cyberpunk 2077 RTX 2080 Ti

February 17, 2020 Nvidia has announced what it takes to get your hands on the limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 RTX 2080 Ti graphics card.

If there’s one game development company that screams ‘PC gaming enthusiast’ it’s CD Projekt Red, developer of the beautiful and hardware-intensive Witcher game series and upcoming first-person ray-traced RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. Perhaps this is why Nvidia is teaming up with the studio to release of a limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 RTX 2080 Ti graphics card.

When Cyberpunk 2077 asked the GPU giant what it thinks about a limited edition Cyberpunk 2077 GPU, Nvidia eventually responded with a sly smile and a “stay tuned…”, along with a picture of a GPU behind a mass of filters to keep us from seeing exactly what’s going on. Through the filter fog, you can just about make out the Cyberpunk 2077’s neon yellow lining the GPU’s shroud.

Now we know that, not only is the card definitely real, you can win one for yourself and a friend. There are only 77 of the limited edition GPU available, and to enter you’ll need to RT the tweet below from Nvidia GeForce, and then tag a friend with the hashtag #RTXOn. Who said shilling for a brand never got you anywhere?

The card itself comes in stunning neon yellow garb, Cyberpunk 2077 insignia on the backplate, and neon blue RTX branding along the side. It might not be to everyone’s tastes, but it’s certainly the perfect centre-piece to a gritty futuristic build.

It also appears to be the same in both size and style to the standard RTX 2080 Ti. The GPU made our list of the best graphics cards in 2020, and in our current-gen graphics card comparison it’s not great on value, but for performance it’s way up there. And hey, you aren’t buying it with your own cash.

The Cyberpunk 2077 release date is approaching swiftly, and it certainly seems like it will be capable of making the most of Nvidia’s higher-end GPU features like ray tracing. In fact, Cyberpunk 2077 is the first game that Nvidia headlines as supporting RTX ray tracing on its website. Cyberpunk 2077 and Nvidia make for a pretty good match if you ask me.

Did it look better through fog? Perhaps…

This isn’t the first time Nvidia has released a limited edition themed graphics card, either. It already has a record of producing some pretty nice looking limited-edition cards, such as the Titan Xp Star Wars collector’s edition.

Nvidia’s Titan Xp Star Wars edition GPU was released a few years ago as part of its 10-series lineup, for the same price as non-limited edition Titan Xp GPUs. These cards featured either red or green lighting, depending on your inclination towards Sith or Jedi, and flaunted a completely redesigned Star Wars-style cooler shroud. Yeah, they looked good.

So if you want a chance at a similarly flashy Cyberpunk 2077 edition RTX 20-series graphics card, you best follow the steps above.

And, for the record, it’s a real shame that Nvidia missed the opportunity to have an ‘RTX 2077’ card. The name’s right there, come on.
