Overkill’s The Walking Dead has been delayed to 2017, surprising nobody

Overkill's The Walking Dead

Despite being revealed almost two years ago, we still actually haven’t seen any screenshots from Overkill’s The Walking Dead game, so it’s no surprise to see it delayed until 2017.

If you can’t wait that long to shoot some things, why not make your way through PCGamesN’s list of the best FPS games on PC.

Perhaps Overkill have been too busy inserting microtransactions and weird Goat Simulator DLC into PayDay 2. According to Starbreeze, that isn’t the case, however.

The delay will help “cement [Overkill’s The Walking Dead] as a tent pole product for the next decade to come”, says Starbreeze, as well as helping the company “pave the way to success”.

There’s also an Asian version of the game being prepared to launch alongside the western release, following a $40m investment from Korean game company Smilegate. This partnership will also see PayDay 2 released in Asia, and Starbreeze will develop a western version of Smilegate’sonline shooter CrossFire.

As for the co-op zombie shooter, maybe we’ll know more by E3. It would be nice to see some actual footage, at least. Until then, here’s that mostly non-gameplay trailer the studio put out ages ago:
