An Overwatch League leak reveals the first new team – Atlanta Reign

The team name and branding for Atalanta’s Overwatch League team appears to have leaked via the official OWL app, ahead of the official reveal, which was expected later today.

A short teaser video for the new squad, named Atlanta Reign, surfaced on the app this morning, and was quickly removed. The image that is now doing the rounds give us our first glimpse of the grey and red Pheonix-logo, as well as the teams custom skins, modeled here by Zarya and Lucio.

As with all of the Overwatch League teams we have come to know and love, the branding here is distinct and slick. You can easily picture the crown-topped Pheonix adorning many a t-shirt, which will no doubt be an enticing prospect for the team’s owners Cox Enterprises, who are taking their first foray into the esports space.

With the signing window now closed, more information on the remaining six teams is expected to begin dropping very soon. Existing OWL teams have started revealing their new signings, but little is known at this stage of the makeup of the new teams entering the fray.

The next franchise set to go public is the Toronto squad, who will be hosting a reveal event tomorrow, with 350 fans in attendance. The reveal party will be live streamed on Twitch, the link to which will be available on the @TorontoOWL twitter page.

Overwatch League Season 2 kicks off on February 14th 2019. It’s possible that we may get to see some warm-up games before this date, but nothing has been revealed yet.

Reigning Overwatch League champions London Spitfire are currently doing a tour of the UK, as part of a wider effort by Blizzard for teams to form connections with their home turf.

Overwatch League announcements are expected to take place at Blizzcon next month, as well as the rumored reveal of a new hero coming to the game. We’ll be rooting for the return of Jetpack Cat.
