Who is Sierra in Overwatch? Sierra, formerly known as Hero 51, has been officially revealed with the release of the Summit Breach trailer, giving us a first look at the newest character in Season 2. As a member of Helix Security, Sierra utilizes a large plasma rifle and a bird-like drone to protect the world from evil forces.
The Sierra gameplay trailer, released on April 9, gave us a look at all of her abilities, confirming the Overwatch leaks from earlier in the month. With Season 2 set to launch on April 14, we won't have to wait long to see where Sierra fits alongside the best heroes on the Overwatch tier list.
Sierra abilities
Before the Sierra gameplay trailer launched, there was a leak from RyanTheValkyrie on Reddit, posted one week before Sierra's hero trailer, that correctly identified all of her abilities. Blizzard has revealed all the information about her kit officially, giving us a detailed look at what she has to offer.
- Role: DPS
- Sub-Role - Recon: You detect enemies below half health through walls after damaging them.
- Helix Rifle: Fires energy particles in a helix pattern, gaining accuracy with sustained fire.
- Tracking Shot: When attached to an enemy, the tracker automatically aims primary fire shots for a short period of time.

- Trailblazer (Ultimate): The drone deploys several bombs in a straight line.
- Full Flight (Minor Perk): Increase Anchor Drone flight and grapple ranges by 25%.
- Tight Grip (Minor Perk): Tighten the spread of the Helix Rifle's bullet spread by 100% and widen the spread by 30% when slower.
- Medi-Drone (Major Perk): Anchor Drones carry a small health pack.
- Locked In (Major Perk): Firing a tracking shot increases your attack speed by 20% for two seconds.
Sierra trailer
Our only glimpse of Sierra so far has been in her two-minute-long hero trailer. The video begins with a shot of Sierra climbing a mountain as she radios into someone from Mesa team to warn them about the Deadlock Gang stealing weapons from the nearby facility. Mesa team is likely referring to the security team at Grand Mesa Watchpoint, a potential new map that has been referenced on the Stadium map, Powder Keg Mine.
Emre, the man we see calmly walking out of GM Tower with a briefcase, isn't part of the Deadlock Gang, but the group is associated with Talon. He speaks to someone over a radio call, asking them to meet him at the extraction point, before being ambushed by Sierra. She fires her assault rifle at him, knocking the briefcase out of his hand, then follows up by sticking Emre with her tracker dart. He fires back using his pistol, prompting Sierra to deploy her drone to evade his shots.
As she lands back on the platform, Sierra kicks Emre behind cover and launches a barrage of bullets that seemingly miss the target, before rocketing into the sky and hurtling down to the target. When it looks like Emre has been knocked out, he transforms into his ultimate form to take Sierra down. Sierra is quickly restrained by Freja, who arrives just in time aboard an airborne transporter.
As Emre comes back to his senses, Freja warns Sierra by saying, "You don't want this fight," before flying away with the briefcase. Sierra breaks out of her restraints to reveal that she's tracking Talon using the briefcase they stole, vowing to see them again soon.
That's everything we know about Sierra in Overwatch. In the meantime, take a look at the rewards in the Overwatch battle pass - you don't have long to claim all the Overwatch skins on offer.
